Brzoska: Poland sets EU deregulation model

Poland's Brzoska discusses a new model for deregulation within the EU. The approach aims to streamline regulations and enhance efficiency across member states.
12.05.2026

Rafał Brzoska, CEO of InPost and one of Poland’s richest individuals, told Euronews that Poland’s deregulation efforts could inspire other EU countries and Brussels.

Poland’s Deregulation Efforts

The deregulation of the Polish economy is accelerating, with nearly 200 specific changes introduced over the past 14 months to ease life for businesses and citizens, according to Rafał Brzoska. Speaking at the European Economic Congress, he described these reforms as only the beginning of deeper changes.

Brzoska emphasized the cooperation between the business community and politicians in developing the deregulation package, noting that both the government and opposition supported the process. Of the 500 proposals prepared by the deregulation team in the first 100 days, around 350 received government approval, with almost 200 changes now in force.

He highlighted key measures such as the presumption of innocence for taxpayers and the possibility of concluding tax settlements with tax offices. Additionally, changes are benefiting ordinary citizens—for example, the automation of payments of the 800 plus family benefit, which is expected to come into effect in June, removing the need for additional application submissions.

Poland’s Model Attracts European Interest

Brzoska stated that Poland’s deregulation model has attracted interest across Europe. He has presented the project’s key elements in Brussels multiple times alongside experts. He also discussed the issue with French President Emmanuel Macron during Macron’s visit to Gdańsk, where the French leader requested a detailed presentation of Polish solutions.

Brzoska noted that similar regulatory issues are “painful” in France. He identified excessive bureaucracy within the European Commission as the EU’s biggest challenge and said positive change depends on the determination of national leaders. He acknowledged urging Macron to push for deregulation at the EU level, saying, “The officials of the European Commission will not deregulate themselves. It will be Europe’s leaders who will have to force through these changes.”

InPost’s European Expansion

The discussion also covered InPost’s expansion plans. Founded in Poland, the courier company currently operates in nine countries but aims to offer its services across virtually the entire European Union by the end of next year. This expansion will primarily be pursued through partnerships with local logistics providers.

Brzoska also mentioned that a high-profile deal with FedEx could significantly accelerate InPost’s European growth.
